HAPI at UCLA

The Hispanic American Periodicals Index (HAPI) at UCLA relied on a system of Excel spreadsheets, printouts, legacy PERL scripts, and physical filing to manage their indexing operations. With no centralized digital workflow or validation, the system was inefficient, error-prone, and difficult to maintain. [iS2 Digital] was hired to reverse-engineer and replicate the system digitally, capturing business logic and streamlining internal workflows.

Ethnic Studies Library, UC Berkeley

The Ethnic Studies Library at the University of California, Berkeley needed to urgently upgrade their custom digital indexing platform, originally built in a version of Drupal that had reached its End of Life. This upgrade needed to be completed on budget and on deadline, and included a secure, scalable, and high-performance migration—while maintaining all content, metadata, and user relationships without error, disruption, or data loss.

The City of Los Angeles needed a real-time, city-wide alert system to efficiently deliver critical notifications. In 2014, [iS2 Digital] partnered with the Fundamental Design Group to develop the initial solution using Drupal 7, providing seamless, real-time alerts for six years. In 2020, the team led a migration to Everbridge alongside upgrades to Drupal 8, 9, and 10, incorporating enhanced security, performance, and advanced custom alert functionality.
